Math Duel is a speed contest rather than a maths test. Ten questions appear one after another, each with four big answer buttons, and the first player to tap the right one takes the point. Tap a wrong answer and you are locked out of that question, so your friend gets a free run at it — reading the question beats guessing.

The questions get harder as the match goes on: addition and subtraction to begin with, then times tables, division and two-step problems like 6 × 7 + 9. The wrong answers are deliberately close to the right one, so you cannot spot them at a glance.

A match takes about two minutes, and if one player can no longer be caught it ends early. It is a genuinely good warm-up for kids practising their times tables, and just as good between adults who think they are quick.

How to play

  • 10 questions, 4 answers each.
  • First to tap the correct answer scores.
  • A wrong answer locks you out of that question — so look before you tap.
